User Reviews for Doña Paula Malbec

Great front end. Good to lightly sip. The back end falls off a cliff in taste for me. It's got a strong acidity in the back pallet if you take too much in at once. But again good flavors and overall a good Wedensday night wine.
This was an okay malbec. It is still awfully young and the tannins come through pretty strongly, but the flavor is nice with a hint of spice and the finish is moderate.
Recently started getting into Malbec. I hear if it's Bodega, it's better. However, I purchased the Dona Paula since the package store down the road, doesn't have a great selection! To my surprise, I LOVED IT! The best part is, you have one glass and it feels like two! Literally! This is a great buy at a good price. I usually feel the more pricey, the better. But the taste is exceptional. I like the hint of chocolate and yes, where it is young, definitely a good all around purchase!

Our Los Cardos Malbec 2008 presents a typical violet-red color. Its aromas of fresh red and black fruits, berries, spices and cigar box announce a smooth and round wine in mouth.
Aromas of ripe plums, blackberry, blueberry, sweet tar, licorice, black pepper, mint, truffle with a hint of mocha flavors gives this malbec an expressive Argentinean character. Nice finish!
Open and inviting, with blueberry pudding, blackberry fruit and sweet vanilla caressing the finish. Jammy. Comes straight at you, but very tasty. Drink now through 2003.
Tasty, forward blackberry and grapey fruit flavors, with sweet spice and chocolate notes. Fresh, open finish. Drink now.
Los Cardos means "the thistle," and thistles indicate the presence of good terroir in Mendoza. Like the thistle, this wine has beautiful color, but unlike the thistle, it is approachable and elegant. Flavors of raspberry, blackberry and mocha, seasoned with vanilla and spice notes, are balanced by a smooth finish.

Tasting Notes:
Per bottle label: With a deep and clean violet colour, this Malbec offers a particularly elegant and complex new world wine style. On the nose it combines raspberry, cassis, floral and spicy notes, along with mineral and smoke flavours. On the palate, it is rich and harmonious, with a lingering, fleshy finish.
