Dona Paula Estate Torrontes 2011
Getting a lot of oregano and herbal notes on the nose which blends very nicely with the minerality and the fruit. Lots more fruit on the palate - stone and tropical fruits, well balanced with fresh acidity and a silky finish.Add winemaker's notes

Interesting torrontes from Argentina. Perfume on the nose, orange/tangerine paraffin (?) on the mid palate, medium to low acid and a short to medium finish. Quite an interesting white wine that may be a bit over the top for some.
I am so out of my depth with white wines I had to look up on Google what sort of grape this is, and I found that it's native to Argentina and typically displays some smooth mouthfeel and mild acidity with aromatics of peach and apricot. And sure enough, there are some lovely floral notes to this wine, and some earthy notes that just bring to mind riding on horseback through the mountains. The taste is quite refreshing, mildly acidic, and displays wonderful notes of peach, citrus and some earth notes that are mildly metallic, a taste reminiscent of copper and rustic forest. The finish is very nice and crisp, perfect for a summer afternoon, and very dry, a white wine that I could definitely get to know and like! Deep golden color and mild notes of lychee and mango in the bouquet herald a restrained wine with a delightfully clean finish; this is the varietal at its most dignified. Open at least half an hour before serving. (AV 89, http://argovino.com/?p=181)
