What to Expect

Argentina, and in particular the region around Mendoza, is making a name for itself as the source of some of the finest expressions of Malbec ever made. In this warm, yet dry climate the Malbec achieves near perfect ripeness endowing the wines with a velvety texture and intense flavors of blackberry, peppery spice, and balsamic herbs. The cooler, well-drained slopes of the hillsides of the region have proven to be ideally suited for Malbec, allowing for the wines to achieve a level of complexity and harmony that rivals those of Napa or Bordeaux.

Winemaker Notes - A blend of 60% Shiraz and 40% Malbec. The wine has violet blue color, with particular Malbec plum character and impressive shiraz spiciness, white pepper and red fruit. Sweet and pleasant mouthfeel with fresh fruit acidity. Clay soils offer good structure to our wines and this is our aim in this Shiraz-Malbec: richness, elegance, balance and bright fresh fruits aromas, all of them expressing the Upper Mendoza river s sense of place. While the 2007 vintage remains unrated, the 2006 received 90 points from the Wine Advocate.

Tastes of leather, rich berries and cream all aged in oak. A nice malbec with hints of spices typical of a shiraz. Very drinkable by itself.
