What to Expect

Chardonnay is America's most popular grape and with good reason. Made in styles that range from steely, mineral laced wines with crisp green apple fruit to wines that are buttery, rich, and laden with tropical fruits, there is a Chardonnay that will appeal to every palate. Chardonnay is most closely associated with France's Burgundy region and California's Northern valleys though it has proven successful around the globe.

Editorial Reviews

Intensely concentrated quince jam, old papaya, vanilla and bitter orange makes for an unusual and not entirely appealing nose. On the palate this lacks acid and is rather shapeless with modest fruit flavors and even the oak seems very retrained. Not corked since it’s finished with a plastic cork. No finish. Except for some grating wood tannin. An innocuous wine at best. 83pts

Light oak, apple, acorn and syrup nose. Savory and sweet, vanilla and apples, almost overpowering oak with a wooded aftertaste. Good wine, would be great with a creamy soft cheese.

Intense aromas of buttered popcorn, vanilla and golden bruised fruit. On the palate - fairly high in acidity, with flavors of spiced candied apples, luscious vanilla and a little bit of tannin on the finish due to the oak. Decent for it's value.

Peaches and melons on the nose, along with some of the oak. In the mouth the wine offers green apples, pineapple and apricots. Good acidity and a nice rich mouthfeel. Has a short citrus finish and some sharp tannins which lowered my score. Good for $13 though.

Very good value on this Chardonnay from Clarksburg. Buttery apple aromas lead to apple, citrus, and mild, toasted oak flavors. Though buttery and rich in the mouth, this wine does have nice balance and if you like this style of Chard you could do a lot worse for the price ($13)
