Don Olegario Albariño Rías Baixas 2009
It presents a golden yellowish color with straw-colored tones. Bright. In its bouquet one can distinguish hints of ripe apple, peach, fruit and raisin. Outstanding because of its special complexity and elegance. At the beginning, it is smooth, but with the adecuate acidity. It presents with several fruit flavors. Persistent, full-bodied and well-structured... a wine for refined people.
I love this one. I came across the Albarino in a strange way. TV. How can a wine look good on TV..don't they all? Well Mario Battali and Gwyneth mentioned this on their show "On The Road Again." They were some place in Galicia eating fresh mussels and mentioned this amazing wine and when I tried it I was forever sold. Fast forward two years, I almost always order this wine anytime it's on the menu (yes sometimes in winter and with red meat.. Gasp!) One day my husband brought home this bottle - the 2009 and we both went, Wow! Not just that, being an early weekday we only had a glass each and a good deal of the wine made it's way to the fridge, two full nights later this wine was just as crisp, clean and amazing as the first day we opened this. I am in love.
Two and a half glasses
