Don Guerino Merlot 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

50 % in second and third passage French and American oak for six months Smells like more new oak with a decided gingeriness here but the fruit is rich, ripe and rather pure, more black currant toned intertwined with notes of smoke, floral, iron mineral and juniper top notes. Rich, this almost seems soft but really just has soft tannins, bright, lively acidity, clear fruit, blackberry, black plum skin and a little black cherry, decidedly medium bodied, elegant and fresh on the palate, this has a fine, tender texture with pinpoint tannins and a lovely natural feel to the wine 89pts
