Domus Aurea Cabernet Sauvignon Alto del Maipo Valley 2012

External Review by We Speak Wine:

Winemaker's Notes: The wine is deep intense garnet in the glass with a harmonious nose of blackcurrants and blackberries. A swirl will reveal a slight eucalyptus note mixed with fresh cigar, cedar and spicy vanilla followed by a layer of blueberries, graphite and stony notes, dried thyme and just a touch of smoke. The mouth displays vibrant but soft tannins, a smooth texture, and a long, elegant finish. Another sip reveals hints of berry, balsamic and tobacco. This wine will continue to age well over the next 15-20 years, but drinks beautifully today. ** Only 11 in Stock **

(includes 10% merlot and 4% cabernet franc, merlot and petit verdot): Vivid ruby. A heady, seductively perfumed bouquet evokes dark berry preserves, apricot, orange zest and violet, plus vanilla and mocha overtones. Pliant, appealingly sweet blackberry and cherry compote flavors show very good depth and vivacity, with a bitter chocolate nuance appearing on the back half. Closes sweet and very long, with resonating spiciness and a touch of anise. - Stephen Tanzer 92 Points Even if this Cab shows eucalyptus on the nose along with asphalt and olive aromas, the bouquet is complex and true as far as high-end Chilean Cabs go. A saturated, syrupy body reflects a hot vintage, while baked flavors of earthy fruits, beef soup and chocolate qualify as stewy but tasty. A warm, flat finish says drink this Cabernet sooner rather than later. - M.S. - Wine Enthusiast Magazine 90 Points A mint overtone leads to a ripe palate of mulled plum and kirsch fruit, with loam and mocha notes filling the long, firmly tannic finish. Drink now. 2,500 cases made. –NW - Wine Spectator Magazine 89 Points ** Only 6 in Stock **

Hails from Macul, so it exhibits some normal eucalyptus on the nose along with spice and pointed, slightly piercing berry aromas. The palate is chewy, sweet, modern and ripe, with chunky berry, herb, olive and particularly graphite flavors. Settles on big black fruit and depth. Outstanding Chilean Cabernet with individuality. Best from 2013-2016. - M.S. Opaque ruby. Textbook ripe cabernet aromas of red- and blackcurrant, cherry and tobacco. Fleshy, expansive dark fruit flavors possess very good depth and offer suave oak spice and floral character. Fine-grained tannins give shape and grip to the long, smooth, gently gripping finish. ** SOLD OUT **
