- Dominique Gallois, who is the cousin of Philippe Naddef, runs this small 3.5 ha domaine. He describes 2004 as a vintage where it was necessary to be very vigilant. There was some oidium and we had to treat more often than usual. I really didn't change the vinification compared to a normal year but we did a much longer débourbage, which is to say 4 to 5 days as opposed to our normal 2. I wanted to be sure that we were working with the cleanest lees possible. The malos were quite long and in our cold and deep cellars, they didn't finish until September. Even though the wines were also racked in September read more...after the malos, as Gallois says the cellars here are so cold that several wines were quite reduced. As to the '03s, I wasn't knocked out by them though they were by no means poor, simply not distinguished. (The agent for both the US and the UK is Jeanne-Marie de Champs of Domaines & Saveurs Collection - jeanne-marie@jmdechamps.com - Boston Wines, Boston, MA, Glazer's Wholesale, Dallas, TX; Liberty Wines and Berry Brothers & Rudd, UK). Note: also from a .2 ha parcel planted in 1954 An expressive nose offers spicy, earthy and slightly sauvage but high-toned aromas that dissolve into notably sweet, round and mineral-infused middle weight flavors that possess good grip and fine length. My favorite of the group as the phenolic ripeness is a bit higher. (hide)
