Dominique Gallois Gevrey-Chambertin 'Petits Cazetiers' Premier Cru(2005)

Burghound
Issue 25, Jan 01, 2007
90/100
May 2008
The soft spoken Dominique Gallois, who is the cousin of Philippe Naddef, runs this small 3.5 ha domaine. Gallois chooses his words carefully and is not given to overstatement yet he describes 2005 as a superb vintage, indeed I would go so far as to say that it was truly a dream vintage. It was essentially perfect from start to finish and while it was dry, the vines got rain exactly when they needed it and the crop was healthy, clean, ripe and with good if not really abundant yields. We began picking on September 22nd with no sorting to speak of. Sugars were in the 12.5% area and with ideal acidities and pHs. read more...
