Dominio IV Tempranillo Rogue Valley Oso 2004
At 2000 plus feet and on a Northeast slope, the Fort Miller vineyard in Talent, Oregon is a gem for Tempranillo. These soils limit potassium uptake due to their ultra mafic (high Magnesium) qualities and soap stone appearance. Tempranillo tends to hoard potassium sending the pH through the roof. Thus a perfect soil / grape match. The earthy nature of Tempranillo shows its face in this vintage, full of licorice root, chocolate, and deep forest berries. The bear did not return to the vineyard this year, yet the wine is full of the forest as if the vines somehow followed the bear back into the forest. This wine promises to develop into an extraordinary example of what Tempranillo can do in the new world.
We are a small 2,500 case winery in Oregon that loves to connect up with people who drink wine.
