2005 Bodega Dominio Buenavista/Veleta Wines Noladas Vino de la Tierra Contraviesa Alpujarra
($14; a blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and tempranillo)
Inky ruby.
Vanilla-accented kirsch and blackberry on the nose, with complicating cracked
pepper and violet qualities.
Sweet dark berry flavors veer toward jammy but are firmed by dusty tannins. Finishes with clinging dark fruit flavors and good spicy persistence.

- Jammy fruit great the nose then a fine vegetal tone of ripe cabernet franc, light chile notes and interesting nuances of baking clay and balsamic woods. Light and elegant in the mouth, the fruit is jewel like with fine precision and a mouth cleansing quality. Really fine balance to the polished tannins and ripe acidity that supports dark cherry fruit that is dusted with bitter cocoa and almond. The finish has good length and continues the bitter/sweet tension found in the mouth. The fruit here is really lovely and faceted, gem like. 91pts
