What to Expect

Also Known as Pinot Bianco in Italy and Weissburgunder in Germany, Pinot Blanc produces bright wines with a gentle fruit character. At their best they have a transparency that reveals a mineral note in the wine. They tend to have a rich mouthfeel yet remain well-balanced.

Varietal 30% Pinot Blanc- 70% Pinot Gris Closure Cork Size 750ml Alc/Vol 12.5% Enjoy Now - 2010 Although the Pinot Blanc is a very ancient grape variety (already knows in the 16th century)- it was only truly recognized a few years ago. It does not come from Burgundy- but the north of Italy. It was first introduced by the Anglo-Saxons- and then gradually discovered by the French who appreciated its freshness- suppleness and ability to go with food. Fruit predominately sourced from the SAERING and SPIEGEL Grand Cru plots and BUX and BOLLENBERG plots. A blend of 30% Pinot Blanc and 70% Pinot Gris. The read more...

pale lemon green color; fresh lemon-lime citrus, green apple, and mineral notes on the nose; more textured body that expected and well integrated medium high acidity with clean long-ish finish; solid value at 13.99

3 of 9 on the sweetness meter on the back of the bottle (the meter starts at 1, not 0 though). A touch of bottle funk immediately on opening the bottle, but this blew off quickly. Some peach on the nose but its a bit muted. The nose makes me expect a fatter wine than this turns out to be. On the palate there's good balance with the acidity matching any residual sugar well. Mid is a bit flat, but the finish livens back up and is very pleasant. This would be great with grilled fish.

The result of a blend of two grape varieties, the Pinot Blanc d'Alsace and Pinot Auxerrois. (Domaine SCHLUMBERGER blends equal proportions of both). The Pinot Blanc d'Alsace gives it a solid structure and pleasant freshness and the Pinot Auxerrois makes it delicately fruity. Our Pinot blanc 2001 is a fine example of its type : well-made, well-balanced, dry and fresh on the palate, with very attractive, fine fruit. Its structure enables it to go with most dishes which require a white wine, and it goes particularly well with terrines, salads, puff pastries, giblets or fish in sauce.

Supple and fruity, it can be used whenever a white wine is called for. Easy to drink on all occasions.
