Domaines Ott White Blend Côtes de Provence Blanc de Blancs Clos Mireille 2006

I think this is my lowest rating ever (I haven't used the 100 point scale long enough to have applied it to any of the bad wines I've drunk.). It's not bad but it's not good. It's a little below average. Very few people seem to use the 100 point scale, as described below, accurately. I see too many tasting notes that indicate an average wine with a score in the 80's. You'd think that giving this a 74 I really didn't like it but that's too harsh. It's not that I DON'T like it it's just the I don't LIKE it. I could drink it again if it were poured for me but there's not much reason to seek it out. The color is so light it's hardly a rosé -- not that that's a problem, I'm just saying. Coincidence worth noting: the wine is almost exactly the color of the clouds overhead as I type this a little before sunset. The mouthfeel (I hate that word but what else? viscosity? texture?) is decently smooth and pink wine-like. I'll admit I don't exactly have a hounds nose but I can't hardly smell anything at all except a faint trace of dried strawberry. It tastes like water with essence of lemons, kiwis and strawberries and that's been sweetened with a tiny amount of high fructose corn syrup. Like I said, it's not bad -- it's more interesting than water or bad wine but it doesn't have much of what I want from wine.

The vine needs time. And men that work with wine sometimes devote their entire lives to it. So it was and has remained with Marcel Ott, his children and his grandchildren. The date : 1896. Ott, an Alsatian agricultural engineer with a pioneer spirit, set out to create a wine-producing estate. First attempts : in the region of Cavalaire. It was in 1912, however, at Château de Selle, Le Clos Mireille, and later at Château Romassan, also located in the Var, that this great family adventure was ultimately launched. Long years of patience and effort ! Each estate won over the rocky land. The cultivation principles, inspired by profound respect for nature, are unbending. Fortunately, the land is grateful and gas rewarded this respect by giving birth to outstanding quality wines. As early as 1930, the "Coeur de Grain" rosé made its way over the border. And today, the elegant, prestigious vintages produced by Domaines Ott* can be found in the finest dining establishments the world over. In 2004, with more as 100 years of experience, Domaines Ott* got wedding band with Champagne Louis Roederer Group A true synergy takes place around these craftsmen of high-class wines. Read less

Domaines Ott - Clos Mireille Blanc de Blancs 2006: Ein sehr eleganter Blanc de Blancs vom Weingut Clos Mireille. Weingut: Domaines Ott (Clos Mireille)Region: Provence - Côtes de ProvenceRebsorte: 50% Semillon, 50% Ugni blanc (Trebbiano)Inhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 13 Vol.%Fassreife: in Barriques gereiftLagerfähigkeit: 4 - 6 Jahre ab JahrgangEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 8-9°C Suche nach Rebsorten > Weiße Rebsorten > Semillon
