A new wine from former Houghton chief winemaker Rob Bowen. Slightly less intrusive style with just a little lees exposure but no oak. Aromas of light herbs and gooseberry with subtle tropical fruits. Fruit for this expressive Sauvignon Blanc was grown on prime vineyard sites in the spectacular Pemberton Wine Region, a cool climate area renowned for growing some of the most expressive Sauvignon Blanc in Western Australia. The 2009 Pemberley Sauvignon Blanc has plenty of gooseberry grassiness on the nose and front palate. It is a full flavoured wine with a wonderful mouth feel from ageing on yeast lees in stainless steel vats. It has a long crisp finish.
Fruit for this expressive Sauvignon Blanc was grown on prime vineyard sites in the spectacular Pemberton Wine Region. The vineyards have a reputation for growing the most expressive fruit in the region over the last decade and have grown many trophy winning wines. Pemberton is renowned for tall Karri trees, rolling hills and spectacular valley dams. It is a true cool climate region with 1,200mm annual rainfall. These conditions are ideal for growing characteristic Sauvignon Blanc. The 2009 Pemberley Sauvignon Blanc has plenty of gooseberry grassiness on the nose and front palate. It is a full flavoured wine with a wonderful mouth feel from ageing on yeast lees in stainless steel vats and has a long crisp finish. It is a wine to enjoy now or cellared over the next 2-3 years. The wine is best enjoyed with seafood, light tappas and poultry dishes. The wine has been shown once and was awarded a Gold Medal at the Wine Show of Western Australia.
The 2009 Pemberley Sauvignon Blanc was awarded the Silver Medal at the London International Wine Challenge 2010. The judges said the wine had a gorgeous lemon-lime infused nose. They mentioned that the wine was lively with well-balanced intensity and purity of fruit. The judges also noted its ripe citrus and pear-drop on the finish with zippy acidity and long length.
