Domaine Xavier Durand Corton Grand Cru Rognet 2010

Member Review by Shoshi Cooper:

A rich mahogany smell, like picking up an antique violin. Hints of fruit on the nose. Complex and beautiful on the palate. The bit of fruit we encountered on the nose steps forwards and takes center stage, like a ballerina showing off her skill. Its dance is subtle and enchanting, changing as it dances across the tongue — first dark fruit, then a mushroomy pirouette, followed by a graceful leap of leather. The end of the dance is tangy, mild-feeling and deeply satisfying. Just as you’re applauding, there’s an encore (there’s always another encore with this wine!). Another zip of mushroom across the stage one moment. Then, after the next applause, a flurry of fruit, dashing through the senses. A superb performance. It’s the wine that keeps impressing, long after the final curtain.
