What to Expect

Chablis is a region of France's Burgundy region responsible for some of the most distinctive expressions of the Chardonnay grape. On the limestone rich soils of the area, Chardonnay produces wines that can be steely, yet rich with orchard fruits and mineral tones. Unlike the typical white Burgundy, most Chablis sees little or no new oak which allows the grape to express itself with a purity that barrel aging can obscure. Often quite reticent in their youth, Chablis may require several years of ageing in order to be able to fully express the depth and richness it keeps in reserve.

Tasting Notes - An exclusivity of William Fevre, Chablis Champs Royaux is vinified and aged with the same care as the Premier Crus and Grand Crus. It is a fresh, refined and elegant wine with pleasant roundness, achieved by barrel ageing.

My group found this wine buttery on the palate, cut with a fresh, lemony end. It's a good summer white- refreshing, with a slight linger on the palate.

William Fevre founded the Domaine de la Maladière with his first harvest in 1959. For many years, Fèvre (who to this day enjoys a very good reputation as a defender of historically renowned terroirs), has worked each plot skillfully so as to make wine whose personality reflects the authenticity of the famous chalky, Kimmeridgian soils from which they spring. In 1998, the venerable Henriot family from Champagne succeeded him bringing along a very personal expertise in Chardonnay. This Chablis (100% Chardonnay) reflects their refined style. No oak aging, just stainless steel tanks and full read more...

A nice, crisp, well balanced Chablis.

Chardonnay is probably my least favorite grape unless the wine has bubbles. But I found the Chablis to be rather good with a nice tart citrus bite.
