Domaine Terlato Shiraz-Viognier Australia White 2006
Black raspberry red color. Complex with black fruit aromas (black cherry and black currant) some chocolate and toasty notes. Explosive black berry and pomegranate-like flavors with perfectly matched tannins that give the wine a long, lasting aftertaste. A treat to drink now and will age well for 7-10 years.
Editorial Reviews for Domaine Terlato Shiraz-Viognier Australia White
This starts off with a decidedly oaky nose but there is a nice black pepper tone and plenty of stemmy, almost floral notes, with a real oystershell mineral edge that helps the wild berry and dried plum fruit to pop. This is really tight up front with a very lean, crisp feel that is decidedly un-shirazy. There is plenty of fresh blueberry fruit with nice notes of pepper and very well integrated and unobtrusive oak. On the finish the fruit turns a bit more assertive and darker with a vivid plummy streak and a tiny bit of heat. This really has a compelling inner mouth perfume that is light, fresh and floral tinted. This is savory with a vibrant real edge to it. 93pts
The nose is decadent, featuring chocolate, strawberries, cedar, tobacco, and cinnamon. Good acidity and mild tannins on the mouth, with a long fruit finish and a touch of butter
A heady nose, with tart lime and quince notes. Nice florals and good mouthfeel. Cherry and cedar flavors before a bright fruit finish.
Deep garnet color. White pepper, wild strawberry preserves, and cocoa Slight rhubarb edge with a mouthfilling texture and lingering savory, earthly spice.

A treat to drink now and will age well for 7-10 years. This majestic Shiraz comes from the spectacular Malakoff estate, low-yielding, high-concentration vineyard site in Central Victoria. Its intense black fruit aromas and firm structure are classic features of the variety as interpreted by two renowned wine families; Rhone master Michel Chapoutier, together with wine authority and Napa Valley vintner Anthony Terlato. The Malakoff vineyard, in central western Victoria, is situated on an eastern facing slope of Australia's Pyrenees Mountains. The vineyard receives optimum sun exposure and is located in the center of the prized Shiraz growing region. The soil profile is remarkably similar to that of France's northern Rhone Valley and the area's climate is ideal for growing superior quality Shiraz.
