Domaine Terlato Chapoutier 2010
"A tank aged blend of 95% Shiraz and 5% Viognier, the 2010 Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier Shiraz – Viognier is upfront and deeply fruited with ripe plum and blackberry like qualities giving way to notions of leafy herbs, subtle eucalyptus, and white pepper on the nose. Very Cotes du Rhone like on the palate, with a round, supple mouth feel, excellent acidity, and a classically dry finish, this brilliant value is opens up with air, has loads of charm and class, and should evolve gracefully for 5-6 years...90" Rhone Report 06/12 "Dark and spicy, with violet notes around the blackberry and mineral flavors, finishing with shades of pepper and smoke. RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Dark as night, the opaque purple hue lures you into a nose of dark berry, cured meat, roasted herbs and graphite. Serious nose for a value-driven wine! A spicy Shiraz from the vineyards of Central Victoria brightens with a boost of Viognier for aroma and balance, as often practiced in France s most highly regarded appellation of the Northern Rhone Valley, C te R tie.
Opaque and black-purple in color, the bouquet is backward and reticient because of its youth but its not hard to eek out scents of crisp blueberries and hints of provencal herbs knowing that more will be revealed with time. Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier combines the vision of Anthony J. Terlato, the founder of luxury importer and marketer Terlato Wines International, and Michel Chapoutier, the esteemed Rhône grower and vintner whose compelling wines have been exalted by critics around the world. The origin of the Terlato & Chapoutier partnership in Australia dates back to 1998, when Chapoutier enthusiastically told Terlato about a top vineyard site in Australia. Located on an eastern-facing slope on the southern edge of the Pyrenees Hills in western Central Victoria, the region’s soil could produce "great wines," according to Chapoutier. An impressive offering, this is a unique blend, using the Côte Rôtie tradition of combining 5% Viognier with Syrah, which produces a spicy, aromatic wine. The vines are planted on 19th century French rootstock, so yields are low and the grapes concentrated and deeply flavored. After destemming, fermentation takes place in cement and stainless steel tanks. Maceration is extended up to 3 weeks in order to give the wine the structure and added richness required for aging and stability. The Viognier grapes are added during fermentation to brighten the must and bring out the flavors. This wine is a Wine Spectator Smart Buy scoring 90 points, they said "Dark and spicy, with violet notes around the blackberry and mineral flavors, finishing with shades of pepper and smoke.
