Domaine Simonnet-Febvre Chablis 2009

Member Review by vin0vin0:

Wonderful Chablis, clean and crisp with subtle citrus notes and nice floral overtones. Nicely balanced with good acidity.

Pours a bright and clear golden color. Scents of green apples, citrus and wet stone. Starts off with ample citrus flavors up front. In the middle, more citrus, green apples and some oysters. Finishes with some wet stone as a nice undertone. A nice long lasting taste left on the palate. A great value wine for $12.95/bottle. Pairs nicely with chicken but could easily be drunk by itself.

The bright, tangy wines of Chablis are world famous for their quality and style. The white, chalky soil gives them their tart flintiness, and the Chardonnay grape gives them fruit and substance. This crisp, compelling Chablis is from a renowned producer. Simonnet-Febvre's wines have long been respected and enjoyed. Now that Masion Louis Latour has acquired the estate a new influx of investment and expertise brings this classic 100% Chardonnay wine to a new level of quality and character. Wine Spectator scored this 90 points saying "Aromas of oyster shell and wet stone overlay melon and ripe apple flavors in this round Chablis, which is open and supple, with a lingering, juicy finish that shows citrus accents. Drink now through 2014."
