What to Expect

Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.

Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by Wine & Spirits Magazine on 04/09 This rich pinot leads with aromas of plum and black cherry as well as a dark oak imprint. It feels a little florid at first, but after a day the wine's components fall seamlessly into place, red plum and black cherry flavors with a bottom note of mocha spice. The texture is silky and fine. For duck breast.

Domaine Serene Pinot noir Grace 06 - "93 Points - The 2006 Pinot Noir Grace Vineyard is medium/dark ruby with spicy cherry and raspberry aromas, complex flavors, and a sense of elegance. This nicely balanced wine has excellent depth, concentration, and length with enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years. Drink it from 2010 to 2020." Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
