What to Expect

Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.

Reviews

Since its first vintage in 1990, Domaine Serene has produced exquisite estate grown Pinot Noir made atop the renowned Red Hills of Dundee, Oregon. A spicy, complex red wine that's full of cherries, orange rind, vanilla and clove.

#68 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2008 The powerful nose displays a complex array of blackberry, boysenberry, ripe blueberry, wild strawberry, caramel, pipe tobacco, black tea, and dried flowers. The rich and structured front palate show ripe blackberry, bing cherry, plum, cola, oak spice, and vanilla and fine-grained tannins and excellent length. Lithe in texture, with a distinctive range of red cherry, black cherry, cinnamon and mocha flavors that ride smoothly over a graceful frame, lingering nicely on teh clear, expressive finish. Drink now through 2015. 93 Points Wine Spectator

The wine that made the Evenstadt's famous is a blend of Pommard, Wadenswil and Dijon clones from their dry-farmed estate vineyards in both Dundee and the Eola Hills. It sums up everything that defines the best in Oregon Pinot Noir: sumptuous fruit, gorgeously silky mouthfeel and a wonderful blend of the complex and the accessible. It is truly one of the treasures of American viticulture.

Rich and fruity with a sweet fruity nose. The cool growing conditions give it a solid acidity, so it pairs well with food.
