Domaine Serene Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve(2004)

2004 will be known as the "Tale of Two Vintages". After a wild and very dry winter, bud-break began in mid-March. A cool and wet Spring resulted in small and very loose clusters. There was a wide spread in the completion of bloom which led to early and late season fruit. The cool fall weather allowed for excellent flavor development and hang time.

Blend of Pommard (47%), Wadenswil (15%) and Dijon (38%) clones of Pinot Noir sourced primarily from estate vineyards grown in the Dundee Hills (60%) and Eola Hills (40%).

Tony Rynders has skillfully assembled my favorite recipe of components, namely Wadenswil, Pommard and Dijon 115 clones in this low yielding (3600 lb/acre) beauty. First offered at Vinfolio in the Spring, we have received an extended allocation to offer. I would remiss if I failed to mention it again. Tasted twice with consistent notes A nose full of rich, butterscotch, cherry and cola aromas. The palate is dramatically formed with beautifully shaped tannins that undulate around the core of pliable cherry, cola, anise and herb.

Our best selling Pinot Noir for the 4th year in a row! Domaine Serene, led by owners Ken and Grace Evanstad and winemaker Tony Rynders, consistently turn out absolutely stunning wine that is very reflective of the Oregon style. Beautiful aromas of dark cherry, red raspberry, pipe tobacco, milk chocolate, pomegranate and earth. The palate is rich and supple, showing black raspberry, cherry pie, black currant, rose, violet and oak spice with a persistent and seamless finish.
