Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas 2008
Gigondas is a rugged area of mountains and very rocky terrain located in the eastern Rhône Valley. The wine is rich and focused with a complex leathery, red berry-cassis, oak-tinged and rustic spicy-herb nose. It gives off a beautiful but slight bouquet of sur-maturité, or super-ripe fruit. The palate is massive with deep extract flavors of cassis and cherry, and a chunky texture that has plenty of acidity. The wine finishes deep and layered, with a rustic grapey note.
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Solid for the vintage, with a good core of anise, mulled plum, boysenberry and fig, all laced with sweet spice and roasted apple wood notes. The nicely rounded finish has ample length.
