Established in the Southern Rhone Valley, the Chateau Saint Nabor is a family winery run for five generations by the Castor family. The vineyard has been developed since the early seventies, and is now 137 hectares (340 acres). Engaged in a philosophy of environmental respect, we reduce the amount of chemical treatments and use the best methods to increase their efficiency (quality material, right dosage, decisions based on weather and aspect of the vines). We use to say “A good wine is made from good grapes; a fabulous wine is made from fabulous grapes”. Composed of 65% red grape varieties with a majority of Grenache and Syrah, and 35% white grape varieties with a majority of Chardonnay, the vineyard is full of diversity; soils, exposition, age and training of the vine. Here the notion of “Terroir” becomes real. This notion “Terroir” is complete in the cellar with the hands and the taste of the winemaker. We focus on the best quality and to reach this we use the best materials; high quality machine harvester that is well-adapted on each vineyard, membrane press, tanks fully temperature controlled … In addition, each grape is specifically vinified with selected yeast. Every day the wines are tasted by the winemaker to ensure the finest process of the vinification. Our production is about one million bottles a year (around 83 000 cases), 50% are red wines, 35% roses and 15% whites; regarding that, half of them are classified in the AOC (Appellation d’Origine Controlee – Controlled Appellation). Our ranges of wines are diverse, you can find light and fresh “Summer Rose”, well balanced Chardonnay with tropical aromas, medium bodied and fruity Cotes du Rhone red to well developed oak barrel aged Cotes du Rhone Villages red, etc… In the respect of our tradition, we offer you fine and unique Chateau wines that you can discover and enjoy with us in the 11th century chapel tasting room. Very nice nose with rich fruit tones, red berries, red licorice, gentle floral tones and a fine, lightly spicy violette pastille-like element with hints of nutmeg and mace. Big acids up front refresh the mouth and support a nice core of rich strawberry fruit. Really lovely balance here with acidity that makes this zesty and sharp, but not really cutting on the palate. A nice medium-length finish transitions to a more mineral element for the finale. 88pts

Fresh, red berry fruit with nice acidity and a mineral tang. Easy summer drinking (maybe too easy).

Tasting Notes:

This Rosé is bright and glistening with a raspberry pink tint. It has a bouquet of red fruit aromas and honeysuckle with linden-tree nuances. The wine has a fresh acidity. It is light, crisp and easy drinking, with acidulous red fruit flavors of wild strawberries and blueberries with mineral nuances.

This Rosé Gris de Nabor is one of the customers favorites since a couple of years now. This a perfect match for summer barbecues because it is a light and fruity wine.
