What to Expect

Viognier is one of the great grapes of France's Rhone Valley. It is an extremely aromatic variety redolent of ripe peaches and wild flowers. It is frequently used to add aromatic complexity to blended wines but on its own, delivers a rich, soft wine with high alcohol and deep flavors of honey, peach, apricot and tangerine.

Winemakers Notes

Wine has been produced at Siant Ferreol for over 150 years. Specially selected, fully ripened Viognier grapes were chilled then pressed before temperature controlled fermentation in oak barrels.

Frequent stirring (battonage) has encouraged the development of a smooth, lingering, complex flavour.

The aroma is fruity with a hint of vanilla and the flavour has apricot and honey notes with subdued acidity. Superb on its own as well as with white meats, fish, cheese and desserts.

Lovely complexity and a richness that is perfectly balanced by the acidity. Nutty with hints of apricots, orange pith, peach blossom and vanilla. Smooth and highly drinkable. Alcohol 12.5%. No flabbiness, no excessive floweriness just excellent poise, balance and flavour. While others have compared this to the best Condrieu Viogniers it doesn't quite have the depth and texture of the great Rhone wines, but as it stands it is a stonker and well worth the eleven quid.
