Domaine Rossignol Trapet Latricieres Chambertin 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

"The 2014 Latricières Chambertin Grand Cru has a reserved bouquet that demands some coaxing from the glass. It is sultry and only reluctantly reveals its scents of damp soil and autumn leaves that infuse the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin that exert a gentle grip. It has the typical foursquare nature of this Grand Cru -- a bit serious, a bit stuffy perhaps, though there is decent length and the 50% (approximately) new oak is nicely integrated." -Robert Parker, Wine Advocate *(92 Points)*

Dark, earthy and complex on the nose with layers of explosively rich black cherry fruit, nutty oak nuances and hints of grilled meats and smoke all coming together with lovely depth, though this is a touch rustic at the same time. A touch diffuse on entry, this is rich with fruit tannins and red fruit. Decidedly open and giving on the palate, this gains and loses focus in the mouth, though the finish shows decisive acidity, which grows on the palate offering a bit of a dried orange rind note here. There’s something a bit mysterious and unseen about this wine, which starts with a very impressive nose and ends with a lovely finish, but the mid-palate is not ready for prime time. Probably needs 6-8 years to sort itself out. 92pts

Medium red. Redcurrant rust smoke tobacco and earth on the nose. Supple and fleshy with good sweetness to the flavors of plum smoke and truffle. The best of these 2007s to this point in terms of breadth and freshness. Here the dusty tannins are nicely supported by fruit. Stephen Tanzers IWC.
