Domaine Roche-Audran Cotes du Rhone 2005

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought two bottles of this wine from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/51094 for £14.Domaine Roche-Audran [www.roche-audran.com ]consists of several holdings spread over several appellations totalling 32 hectares. The domaine is a family concern now run by Vincent Rochette and operates on biodynamic principles. This Cotes du Rhone comes from the vineyard at Buisson next to the winery, is made up of 70% Grenache, 20% carignan, 5% syrah and 5% mourverde and is aged in oak barrels.I started my bottle last night with my supper of chicken stew and I did enjoy it.There is plenty of a blackcurrant and cherry style fruit there and the tannins give structure without being intrusive. I thought this a lovely wine

Domaine Roche-Audran:
The Domaine consists of several plots spread over several appellations totalling 32 hectares which have been cultivated by the same family for five generations. They do not only grow grapes but also produce olives and honey. Vincent Rochette took over in 1996 and set up his own winery in 1998 instead of sending the grapes to a co-operative as previously. He has also converted the Domaine to biodynamic. He is making several cuvees over the appellations
