Pascal Lachaux has again crafted sensational wines and the two examples from 2001 that I tasted from bottle have more than lived up to the promise that they displayed from barrel. Lachaux told me that there were two generations of floraison (flowering), which resulted in one vine being loaded with grapes and another, generally from the second generation that was completely rife with millerandage; this is the condition of having tiny berries, which is highly prized by serious domaines because it gives very high solid to juice ratios.
