Domaine Rimbert Saint-Chinian Mas au Schiste 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Château Bousquette produces some of our most remarkable wines: our best seller Château Véronique, Château Bousquette Tradition and Prestige. This Rosé is made with Syrah and Cinsault grapes. Its color is more intense than the blush wines of the New World and the nose is reminiscent of red berries. A lively spritz make it an ideal companion to summer fares. Grab a few bottles to enjoy chilled on warm days. AOC St Chinian Alcohol Content: 13% DRINK BEFORE 2008

The first word in my notes on this wine is jammy. But I usually don’t like jammy wines. But this wine manages not to cross the line. It is only 13% alcohol so the sweetness that comes with high alcohol fruit bombs isn’t there. This wine is about rich fruit both on the nose and on the palate with some spicy notes in the background. Jammy but in a good way and still with good acidity to help it stay balanced and great for grilled food. By the way the play on words of farmhouse on schist (soil) is meant to sound like masochist. Playful. - Steve Greer | K&L Staff Member | Review Date: 11/25/2008

St. Chinian is a village in the Languedoc-Roussillon known for their ripe, friendly character. This is a hearty red wine that's spiced with dark berry fruit.
