a little violet on the nose, and then raisiny, plum fruit blackberries, and subtle spice nuances combined with a red bramble like fruit, deep palate with amazing age potential

Winemaker's Notes:

Richaud might be situated closer to the Languedoc than Burgundy, but stylistically he sees himself as having more in common with the Cote d’Or and is dismissive of what he describes as the over extracted styles of the south. The key, he says, is balance, and this begins in the vineyard. He has also finished his new winery, with a succession of smaller tanks, which gives him greater flexibility for blending smaller parcels of wine. Tasting at the domaine takes twice as long but the experience is greatly rewarding, as Richaud demonstrates the rich palate that his meticulous vineyards yield him.
