Marcel Richaud's wines are characterised by their bright fruit, superb balance and great drinkability. A blend of about 50% Grenache from old vines and 50% Syrah and Mourvèdre, the Cairanne is a mini-masterclass in Rhône wines - and, given the exceptionally high quality, a good value one as well - while the Côtes du Rhône is lifted and brimming with the sort of fruit that evokes the south of France. The Cuvée L’Ebrescade, Marcel's flagship wine, is produced from a small, hillside vineyard on the road running from Cairanne to Rasteau, made in tiny quantities only in the finest vintages. Made primarily from 50 year old Grenache, 30 year old Syrah and 20 year old Mourvèdre, it is the only Richaud wine to see any oak, and is one of the Southern Rhône’s great wines.
