a Chevalier. This came about as a result of a vineyard swap with Domaine Chartron as Ramonet exchanged some of their Bâtard vines for a portion of Chartron's Chevalier. The 99 Chevalier and Bâtard were still on their fining materials and thus were unavailable for tasting at the time of my visit in late February. I have also included notes on the 98s that were tasted on a prior visit early in 2000, with the exception of the 98 Bâtard, which I just tasted again recently. Impressively focused fruit with citrus and orchard fruit notes complemented by oak spice and medium weight, concentrated and nicely nuanced flavors. This is still rather tight and while it's not hard, it doesn't seem quite as harmonious as it usually does. This is a wine I would very much like to retaste in a few years to see if it sorts itself out as there is excellent underlying material.
