Domaine Ramonet Bâtard-Montrachet 2000

Winemaker's Notes:

95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): This bottle is just as I remembered the wine out of barrel, soaring from the glass in a stunning mélange of intense mint, yellow fruit, hints of beeswax, lovely stony minerality, a delicate framing of vanillin oak and a potpourri of spring flowers in the upper register. On the palate the wine is full, powerful and tensile, with bracing acids, a fine core of fruit and a very long, minerally finish. As is to be expected with a young Ramonet grand cru, the mid-palate depth is now buttoned up behind its serious girdle of acidity, but one can sense the depth on the finish with the beginning signs of Ramonet oily-ness. The wine is showing great balance and laser-like focus- in short, a beautiful bottle of grand cru in the making. 2010-2030. (Jul/Aug 2006)
