Domaine Poujo Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec 2012

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for eight pounds when I visited the 2014 London France Show where I met the domaine owner. Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec is an AOC for dry white wine from the same area as the red Madiran AOC some 20 miles north-east of the town of Pau and 50 miles north of the Spanish border.Domaine Poujo is a 10 hectare property run by Phillippe Lanux,a third generation winemaker who makes several cuvees including Madiran and Pacherenc. This bottle is 20% petit manseng and 80% gros manseng. I started my bottle last night with my supper of baked mackerel and I enjoyed it. It is a dry wine with some fruit [think melons and pears ] but it is quite mineral although very smooth and easy-drinking.
