Domaine Pere Caboche Rose Vin de Pays Vaucluse 2017

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Earthy and stemmy on the nose with hints of cherry fruit and and some tart raspberry accents. Simple and not intense. Opening with fine acids, this quickly turns a little chunky and clumsy with simple fruit that mirrors the nose, a hint of minerality, and a slightly chewy texture. fading fairly quickly on the finish, this is an easy to enjoy quaffer that has quite high acidity well covered by a judicious use of sugar. 83pts

Domaine du Père Caboche:
For generations my family has been both wine growers and blacksmiths. My father Théophile Boisson was orphaned when he was only three years old, hence he was unable to train to as a blacksmith. Fortunately his mother helped foster a keen interest in grapes and wine, that led to him becoming a wine maker. The family nickname of “Caboche” derives from the old Provencal word for horseshoe nails, by which our estate is still known.

This light, stylish roseacute; shows rose petal and watermelon rind notes backed by a lightly firm hint.

Brendan's BuzzRated 91I don't know what part of the country you are in, but here in California it is HOT this summer. I remember when I first started drinking wine, I was the kind of guy that would drink a huge, heavy red no matter what the thermostat said. In my older, and hopefully wiser years, I have really learned to appreciate the delights of a crisp white wine and the Le Petite Caboche Vin de Pays de Vaucluse really fits the bill. A Sauvignon Blanc based blend, the wine has a beautiful nose of lime, stone and lemon. The palate is medium bodied, with great flavor and perfect acidity. It's a great match with grilled pork or sushi. While researching the wine I was happy to learn that it is one of Jancis Robinson's (the famous Master of Wine) favorite summer wines.Wine Tasting NotesBright yellow with golden and green hues, intense aromas of white flowers and attractive passionfruit finish.
