Domaine Pélaquié Lirac 2009

External Review by Prestige Wine & Spirits:

The 2009 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Lirac, which reveals abundant raspberry and black cherry fruit intermixed with a hint of spring flowers. Medium-bodied with good acidity, it should drink nicely for several years.

A big, concentrated wine from Lirac, neighbor of Tavel. With complex aromas of eucalyptus, anise, earth, and black cherries, this is great for full-flavored stews or game.

On the softer side, with mulled spice notes farming the plum sauce, fig paste and linzer torte flavors, with a nice mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2012.

From the quaint village of Laudun on the Rhône's western bank comes this spicy, rustic Côtes du Rhône. It's 60% Grenache blended with Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault and Counoise. Try with grilled sausages or chili.
