Marcel Niquet is married to a relative of Henri Jayer who brought a .61 ha parcel of Echézeaux with her. Only a small amount of wine is made and even less is bottled under the name of the Domaine. About 30% new oak is used and the result is elegant, relatively fine Echézeaux with plenty of complexity, velvet and style; in particular, the '98 is highly recommended. (Bayfield Imports, Brooklyn, NY). Richly fruited with elegance and slightly roasted tones followed by full, intense, mouth coating sap and tannins plus fine length. Definitely 1997 in style but handles it with grace and generosity.
