Bright ruby. Exotic scents of candied red berries, potpourri and allspice, along with a hint of incense. Sappy and gently sweet, showing a silky texture and fresh strawberry and raspberry flavors. A firmly terroir-driven wine solidly based on its tannins and the richest of red fruits. Very mineral chewy at this young stage densely concentrated the acidity a sharp light through the fruit. Powerful stuff. Wine Enthusiast.
A Duboeuf 2010 Morgon Cote de Py (not associated with any one domaine; but sporting a distinctive "non-flower" label) leads with scents of buddleia and dark cherry then offers generous fruitiness along with the beginnings of carnal savor and a peat-like smokiness on the palate. Still in tank when I tasted it in June Duboeuf s 2010 Morgon Domaine des Versauds offers ripe purple plum and dark cherry tinged with coriander and shadowed aromatically by suggestions of plum and kirsch distillate. A welcome exuberance of juicy fruit allows the piquancy of fruit pit to serve as stimulating counterpoint rather than compounding the bitterness borne of extraction that one finds in some of the Duboeuf 2010s. A rare instance where the 2010 version of a wine is more convincing than the 2009 this excellent value will probably also merit several years of attention. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
