Past peak, fruit was faded though still nuanced notes of strawberry and herb, lovely texture though with tannins almost fully resolved and correct acidity. Purchased on release just too old.

Tasting Notes Color: Red (Deep Ruby) Nose: Red fruit, chocolate, and fig Taste: Fruity and spicy. Decent length. Mouthwatering acidity gives way to gentle tannins in the long finish, though fruit character persists. Summary: A medium bodied wine featuring loads of red fruit (though others note black fruits), along with a spiciness that is complemented by the wine's prickly mouthfeel. This wine is unusual for a Cotes du Rhone in that it is made primarily from Counoise. This grape is one of the 13 varieties allowed in the production of Chateauneuf du Pape, where it can lend a spiciness or prickliness to the final blend. These characteristics of the Counoise grape are pronounced in this Cotes du Rhone. Drink now.

tightly wound. I think it needs a year or two. Or just decant the hell out of it.

This bottle of "Cuvée Classique" comes from a 10-hectare plot of 40 year old vines. Based on Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, it's incredibly full-bodied with spicy dark fruit and nice structure.

The 2007 Domaine Monpertuis (Paul Jeune) Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a classic wine that's a blend of 85% Grenache, and the rest a mix of other varieties, that's all aged in foudre. It displays a complex, beautifully traditional bouquet of garrigue, laven... Rhone Report, The. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2007 Domaine De Monpertuis Chateauneuf du Pape 1500ml

Classic Châteauneuf: a full-bodied red with intense ripe fruit balanced out by herbal, earthy notes. The dusty tannins give it complex structure that will let it age gracefully, but this is a perfectly delightful bottle right now.

Ruby-red. Explosively perfumed, utterly seductive bouquet of raspberry, blackberry, garrigue and minerals. Deep flavors of sweet dark berry liqueur buttressed by vibrant minerality. Silky tannins add gentle grip to this suave midweight. Deftly combin... Stephen Tanzer. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2005 Domaine De Monpertuis Chateauneuf du Pape 750ml

Winemaker's Notes:

A deep purple robe and an aromatic explosion. The nose is wild with aromas of kirsch, prunes, blackcurrants, tobacco and violet sweets. The taste is altogether powerful and soft with notes of jam and grilled coffee as well as liquorice.
