Domaine Michel Juillot-Mercurey "Les Vignes de Maillonge" Mercurey Bourgogne Mercurey Blanc Bourgogne France 2007

Member Review by zufrieden:

It is actually relatively rare to find a Mercurey Blanc - especially of such good provenance. The Juillot family has had a representative of the clan in Mercurey since 1404 and in wine, that longevity in situ has apparently paid dividends: this wine has good structure and could last another 3-5 years with prudent attention to cellar conditions.Color of lemon oil with a nose of cake spice, apple, mountain snowflake and a touch of something... perhaps maple. On entry, we have a bit of citrus in the mix with a clean, refreshing white fruit acidity. The finish is medium - a bit less rich and deep than Meursault or nutty, viscous examples further north. However, make no mistake: this is a fine wine at an excellent price. Bravo!

The quality of a wine is the result of the straightforwardness and the brightness of its color, the delicacy and the clarity of its aromas, the intensity, the complexity, and the persistancy of its flavors. While all of our wines remain true to this noble conception of quality, they stem from the successful alliance of an acclaimed grape variety, a unique "terroir " and exceptional people. Read less
