A very spicy fresh and overtly sexy nose speaks of ripe black berry fruit and cassis aromas that introduce rich sappy and imposingly voluminous flavors that possess excellent intensity and impeccable balance on the long and palate staining finish. From one vintage to the next this always seems to be either more Nuits or more Vosne but in 2009 this is definitely more Vosne in character. - Comments: Outstanding Burghound.

Winemaker's Notes:

"I drank a fair bit of the 1990 Méo-Camuzet Chaumes out of the blocks as well, and if one can picture that same, velvety wine with more mid-palate conviction and complexity from the now decidedly older vines in this vineyard, once can get a strong sense of this lovely wine in ’09. The nose offers up a beautifully complex and wide open mélange of black cherries, dark plums, chocolate, lovely soil tones, a touch of coffee bean and toasty new wood. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, voluptuous and chocolaty, with a sappy core of fruit, suave tannins and fine length and grip on the focused and classy finish. This is a very forward version of 2009 and also a fine example of how the much riper side of this vintage can still be an unqualified success....90" JG 11/10 "Sumptuous oaky nose, cherries. Plump, full-bodied, and very concentrated, has shoulders, delicious fruit, spicy and complex. Good length...4 Stars" Decanter 1/11. "Dark fruit flavors of black currant and blackberry grace this velvety red, whose dusty tannins and acidity keep it focused and lingering. The wine is balanced in a large-scale way, with a tight finish. Be patient...92" WS 05/12
