Domaine Mardon Quincy Tres Vieilles Vignes 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

Quincy is an area near Sancerre in the Loire Valley, France that produces similiar mineral, crisp wines from the Sauvignon Blanc grape, but at an incredible price. This 2012 Domaine Mardon Quincy "Cuvee Tres Vieilles Vignes" (very old vines) has cirtrus and white peach flavors with aromas of flinty minerality and mouth watering acidity.

Beautiful wine. I'm not usually a fan of Sauvignon Blanc, but this was complex, bright and satisfying. Limes and lime zest, backed with asian pear, pineapple and a slight woodiness despite being unoaked(?) Long subtle finish. Opens to faint gardenia and tuberose on the nose.

Good colour with hints of gold. The nose develops a bouquet of crystallised citrus with almond notes. The taste is full and generous, bringing together finesse and elegance, with a fine finish. Can be enjoyed as an aperitif wine, with a Berry regional potato galette, with fish cooked in sauce, and white meat; it pairs perfectly with Asian dishes, sweet and sour... and whatever else inspires you. - Winery

Dress with gold highlights. The nose develops aromas of candied citrus and almond notes. The mouth is ample and generous, combining finesse and elegance, with a nice finish. Be enjoyed as an aperitif with the potato pancake Berry, with fish in hot sauce, white meat, well in tandem with Asian dishes, sweet and salty ... and according to your inspiration. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **

It's amazing how different Sauvignon Blanc expresses itself in different terroirs. This comes from the lesser-known area of Quincy. Aromatic - almost in a muscat-fashion and full of white pineapple and citrus fruits. Dry, unoaked and, as the label states, from very old vines.

Southwest from Sancerre the charming village of Quincy produces the most irresistibly quaffable, fragrant and friendly Sauvignon Blanc in France. Mardon's old vines cuvee is simply the best we have ever tasted.
