User Reviews for Domaine Louis Jadot Puligny Montrachet Clos de la Garenne

Winemaker's Notes:

Maison Louis Jadot was founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. He quickly developed a reputation as a high quality producer and his aim was to build his reputation as a top quality winemaker in Burgundy. To achieve this aim he continued to purchase vineyards to add to the family's earlier purchase of Beaune Clos des Ursules and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles vineyards. His Grandson, who took over at the end of WWII continued to build Louis Jadot's Domaine holdings by acquiring Grand Cru vineyards in Corton Pougets and Corton Charlemagne. Puligny Montrachet, situated to the south of Meursault and to the north of Chassagne Montrachet, shares with Chassagne a handful of the greatest white wine vineyards in the world. The Premier Cru vineyards of Puligny Montrachet, noted for the exceptionally high and consistent quality of the wines they produce, stretch across the upper half of Puligny's slope from Meursault to Chassagne. The "Clos de la Garenne" of Duc de Magenta is a full and generous yet extremely elegant wine, with distinctive peach and almond nuances as well as fruity and oaky aromas both on the nose and on the palate. This great white wine is destined to honour haute cuisine : shellfish cooked in a court-bouillon, creamed and poached fish, poultry liver pâtés, ripe cheeses like Munster and mature Comté.
