Like their corresponding village Nuits-St.-Georges bottling, Jadot's 2006 Gevrey-Chambertin was raised partly in tank to promote primary fruitiness, and that result has certainly been admirably achieved, if at the price of relatively simple but sappy ripe cherry, accompanied by smoked meat undertones. "There's a little bit of this," jokes Lardiere, with reference to an unusually large 40-barrel assemblage, the result of having declassified fruit from four premier crus fruit in response to hail. This mouth-filling, slightly grainy-textured Gevrey will prove satisfying over the next several years.
