What to Expect

Pinot Grigio is one of the world's most popular wines. Also known under the French moniker "Pinot Gris", and even the German "Ruländer" among others, Pinot Grigio is a chameleon of a grape. It is produced in a range of styles, from the light fruity Italian style that has gained popularity, to a more mineral, flinty rich wine favored by the French - particularly in Alsace - and emulated by many in the new world.

Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by The Wine Messenger A deep golden Pinot Gris from northern Alsace. Complex and concentrated one of the best from Domaine Loew.

Deep golden color. A delightfully fresh nose of apples, pears, peaches and citrus with honey and floral notes precedes a rich, round and soft palate with good concentration of citrus and white fruit flavors. The wine ends with a fresh finish with a hint of sweetness and pepper spice. The blend of finesse and complexity makes this an ideal wine for spicy cuisine (Thai, Mexican, Indian), foie gras, Roquefort, and even fresh fruit. Capable of aging for 2 to 4 more years.

Obviously a fan of Etiene Loew - another good wine, with lots of sweet fruit.

Mineral, petrol nose.. Sweet attack. Some mineral + vegetal. More complex - more acidity + cleaner finish. Less sweet - more of a real wine @ 20 LP.
