Domaine Leroy les Genévrières Meursault Premier Cru Blanc 1978

Member Review by VegasOenophile:

Opened this on a bit of a celebration. Got it reasonably form the cellar of a liquor store near me. I worried at its age. There was a lot of sediment in this wine, so I poured it into a decanter through a straining screen. LOTS of sediment and it poured out brick red, nearly rusty looking. Musty nose. After some time in the decanter and with constant swirling in the glass, the sweet bouquet of pinot came through, as did the flavor or a nice strong burgundy, with some stringency. It was nice. Certainly not the younger, sweeter pinot, but for something 31 years old, it still had it's character.

Domaine Leroy:
At Domaine LEROY, we have been cultivating our vines under biodynamic conditions since 1989. This means that our wines are free of all chemical treatments, weed killers, pesticides, fungicides, insecticides and artificial fertilizers. Instead, we have stepped back in time and use cosmic rhythms to ensure correct soil tilling and recuperation as well as effective vine care through all phases of the year's cycle.
