What to Expect

While Burgundy is renowned as the home of Pinot Noir, it is also the source for the ubiquitous Chardonnay grape. In these gently rolling hills Chardonnay achieves some of its most profound expressions. Appellations such as Meursault, Montrachet, and Corton Charlemagne proudly take their place among the most sought-after in all the world of wine. With a richness and complexity few wines can match, Chardonnay from Burgundy adds classic hints of flinty and chalky soil with nuances tones of nuts, cinnamon, honey and butter to the rich, sometimes unctuous but rarely heavy, ripe orchard fruits that the grapes are capable of providing. White Burgundy can improve in the bottle for decades and is arguably the most age-worthy dry white wine in the world.

Winemakers Notes

Long, gentle pneumatic pressing, decanting over 24h, thenracking and running into cask of the must.
Alcoholic fermentacion in oak casks, 25% new (maxi 1/2 Vosages, mini 1/2 Allier)
Maturing: After 12 months in cask, the wine is aged 6 months in tank where it is for bottling.
Homeopathic fining and very light filtering if necessary

Biodynamic
Manual harvesting with grape sorting and optimisation of choice of date through parcel-by-parcel ripeness monitoring

Reviews

Millionaires should have fun debating whether the 1992 Batard-Montrachet or Chevalier-Montrachet is superior. The Batard is the more evolved and precocious of the two. Both are beautifully well-knit, ... Robert Parker. A Chardonnay wine from Burgundy in France. 1992 Domaine Leflaive Batard Montrachet 750ml
