Domaine le Couroulu Vacqueyras Cuvée Classique 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

The Vacqueyras Cuvee Classique is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre. It undergoes a long, 20-day maceration period and is aged in large oak casks for two years before bottling. This big, spicy, robust, somewhat jammy wine represents exceptional value. It is an excellent match for grilled ribs, sausages, and steaks as well as roasts and stews of lamb, beef and game. Robert Parker consistently acclaims the Couroulu Vacqueyras as one of the finest wines of its appellation.

Vivid red. Seductively perfumed, complex bouquet of red and dark berries, Asian spices and minerals. Pinot-like in aromas and flavors, with sweet raspberry and blackberry notes, silky texture and good back-end snap. This graceful wine is already very tasty but is balanced to age.

Guy Ricard is a passionate winegrower from the southern Rhône. The main grape varieties there are Grenache and Syrah, producing powerful and full-bodied Vacqueyras. The wine has aromas of violet and licorice, intense coloring and robustness. A touch of Mourvèdre gives the wine a nice smoothness, and good aging potential. This is a very versatile wine to pair with chicken, pork or beef.

Opaque ruby core nearly to rim. The nose showcases a terrific blend of juicy and meaty characteristics, just what you would hope for in a Southern Rhone blend. Fresh fruit aromas of raspberry and cassis blend nicely with notes of pepper, herbs, spi... John Perry. The 2007 Vacqueyras Cuvee Classique is just that. Kirsch liqueur, roasted Provencal herbs, spice box, licorice, and lavender soar from the glass of this full-bodied, richly fruity wine, which has superb depth, density, and a 30+-second finish. This i... Robert Parker. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2007 Domaine de Couroulu Vacqueyras Cuvee Classique 750ml

Ripe plum, smoky and herbal aromas are expressive and fresh. Delicious, with a solid core of fruit and tannins.

A blend of 55% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault. This wine undergoes a long, 20 day maceration period and is aged in large oak foudres for two years before bottling. This big, spicy, robust somewhat jammy wine represents exceptional value.
