Domaine Laroche Chablis Premier Cru "Les Vaillons Vieilles Vignes" Chablis 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Domaine Laroche epitomises Chablis, with impeccable quality, and remarkable ownership of 100 hectares of vineyards, including 30 ha of Premier and 6 ha of Grand Crus. Founded in 1850, there is still a dynamism which permeates everything they do. Michel Laroche merged with another family-owned producer, Jeanjean, in 2009; he remains actively involved as does chief winemaker Denis de la Bourdonnaye. As part of their aim to retain purity and minerality in the finished wine, Laroche were the first Burgundian producer to move to screwcaps in 2002. This 1er Cru Les Vaillons Vieilles Vignes is a beautifully rich, expressive Premier Cru Chablis with pronounced hay, honey and ripe apple on the nose, and a textured, mineral palate which has excellent fruit intensity at its core. Furthermore a fine acidity and juicy apple, pear and spice complexity last well on the finish.
