Domaine Lafage Cotes du Roussillon Rouge Authentique 2013

Winemaker's Notes:

'Run by the talented (and fast driving) Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage, from their cellar located just outside of Perpignan (which is being completely renovated), this estate includes vineyards spread throughout the Roussillon, allowing them to make the most of the diverse terroirs and micro-climates. I struggle to think of another portfolio that encompasses anywhere close to this level of value, and the average quality to price (QPR) for these wines is just hard to believe.' Jeb Dunnuck, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 2013 Deep red in coulour. On the nose, this 2013 vintage offers intense varied aromas of red fruit with freshness and intensity. A full-bodied wine with beautiful silky tannins and a great length. Drink now to 2020.

The dwelling of the manor is an ancient stone-built farmhouse located next to the vineyard-fringed road between Perpignan, the former capital of the Kings of Majorca, and the Mediterranean seashore. Hugging the 80 hectares of marine-land, where the now archaeological site of Villarnau was once a mediaeval village, the vineyards of the Lafage Estate dominate the surrounding grapevine. It provides spectacular views of the Albères, an extension of the Pyrenees mountain range, which forms a natural border between France and Spain before plunging into the blue of the Mediterranean. At the entrance of the Estate, a boutique offers wine-tasting and colourful commentaries to wine-lovers passing by. Read less
